How to choose a mask
1.The mask should have a high dust stopping efficiency. The efficiency of a mask is measured by its dust stopping efficiency against fine dust, especially respirable dust below 5 μm. With normal gauze masks, the dust barrier principle is mechanical filtration, i.e. when the dust hits the gauze, it is blocked in layers, keeping some large particles of dust in the gauze. However, fine dust, especially dust smaller than 5 μm, will pass through the mesh of the gauze and enter the respiratory system. There are some anti-particle masks for sale on the market whose filter media consists of fibres charged with permanent static electricity. Those respiratory dusts smaller than 5 μm will be attracted to the filter media by the static electricity in the process of passing through it, truly acting as a dust barrier.
2.The mask should fit well with the shape of the face. When the mask does not fit closely to the person's face, the dust in the air will enter the respiratory tract through the gaps around the mask. Therefore, people should choose an anti-particle mask that fits the shape of their face and wear it correctly.
